Honoring Marwa Elsherbiny’s Legacy

Out of tragedy, we build hope. Out of division, we build unity.

The Marwa Elsherbiny Cultural and Education Center Dresden is more than a mosque—it is a beacon of faith, knowledge, and peaceful coexistence.

Honoring the Legacy of Marwa Elsherbiny

📖 “Whoever kills a soul… it is as if he has killed all of humanity. And whoever saves a soul, it is as if he has saved all of humanity.”
       — (Quran 5:32)

Marwa Ali El-Sherbini was an Egyptian national handball player and pharmacist whose tragic death in 2009 in a Dresden courtroom shocked the world. She was targeted in a senseless act of Islamophobic violence, sparking global discussions on racism, religious discrimination, and the rights of Muslim women.

In her memory, the Marwa Al-Sherbiny Mosque was established on May 6, 2009. It stands as a symbol of unity, resilience, and a commitment to fighting prejudice, providing a welcoming space for Muslims of all backgrounds and fostering peaceful coexistence within German society.
